Am I causing permanent damage?
My son Ryan is terrified of the vacuum cleaner. Whenever I take out the vacuum (which I must admit is NOT that often), he's up on the couch with a face of terror. I try to smile and tell him it's okay. I even try to get him to go closer to the vacuum when it's not on. But still, he's very frightened by it. I can't help but wonder if my vacuuming is causing permanent damage to my sweet little boy! Do I wait to vacuum when he's not around? Or, do I continue to try and teach him to not be afraid of it? These nagging feelings remind me of one of my favorite quotes (which I'm sure many of you moms can relate to).... "The only thing stronger than mother love is mother guilt"

Jack does that too. I even wait until hes sleeping. But that's when I come up with a long list of other things to do. It seems like it's a no win. A good excuse not to do it : )
That is common they will outgrow it.
