Remember When...
After a busy weekend, I thought I'd stay home today for a nice relaxing day with the boys. Shortly after our morning started, I started to make my morning cup of coffee. As soon as it was done brewing, the boys wanted to play outside. So, before I could even pour my cup of coffee, I needed to put on the boys shoes, get on their jackets and clean up the dog poop. I finally had everything done and was ready to enjoy my coffee. I'm sitting outside for literally 5 minutes and Zachary tells me he's hungry. I go to get him a snack and re-warm my coffee. Time to relax again, right? Another couple of minutes go by and the boys are fighting over the push car. I set my coffee down to put the boys in time out. Again, I re-warm my coffee. It took about 45 minutes and 4 trips to the microwave before my coffee was finished. This got me thinking, remember when you could drink a hot cup of coffee without being interrupted? What's your "remember when" that you miss pre-moomyhood.

Papa Day Care
We just got back from a visit to my see my parents on Wednesday. My husband and I traveled back ALONE! My parents are watching the boys until tomorrow. Since my mom had to work, that meant Papa (as the boys call him) has been on his own to take care of two very active toddlers. I think most men would be terrified. Not my dad! He is so thrilled to have his grandsons. They've already gone on a tour of the fire station, went out for pizza, visited the park and today they are going to the zoo! I really miss my boys, but it's been a great break. I've been able to catch up on house chores, work and have had some much needed alone time with my hubby.

Proud mom of BOYS!
I met a lady over the weekend that had 4 boys. All she could talk about was how much she wanted a little girl. I'm surprised at how much I've heard this from boy moms. Of coarse, I too, would love to have a little girl to play dolls with, dress up in cute pink clothes and do some of the fun girly things I did as a child, but I don't feel "empty" because I don't have a daughter. I'm proud to be a boys mom and playing with cars and trucks is just as much fun as any of the girly things I could be doing!

Spring Cleaning

It's that time again... Spring Cleaning! This spring, I'm determined to somewhat take back control of our house! After two years of constantly tripping over toys, I've developed a new "system" to try and keep the house a little cleaner. Over the past weekend, I went through all of the boys toys and separated them into categories (cars, balls, animals, etc.). I then went to Target (my favorite place of all times) and stocked up on plastic bins. I put all the toys from each category into a bin. Now, the boys can only take out one bin of toys at a time. When they're ready to take out a new bin of toys, they have to first clean up what they were playing with. We still have the bigger toys out for them to access anytime, but this has at least helped with all the smaller toys!
Another Great Mommy Necklace Review!
We're so thrilled that we continue to receive such fab feedback on our mommy necklace! Alicia at The Mommy Insider just wrote a great review on Crafty Babies stating the following about her mommy necklace... "when I find a piece of jewelry that I LOVE, I wear it 24/7. That's exactly what I've done with my new Crafty Babies Sterling Silver Mommy Necklace...I am very pleased with the quality of the disc and the 'mommy' stamp. Both make for a necklace that I am happy to show off everywhere I go."

Being a work-at-home mom can have its struggles...
I was trying to take an order over the phone today and my boys decided to take the opportunity (while mommy was distracted) to go into the bathroom and start playing with the toilet water. I put the customer on hold in order to get the boys out of the bathroom, but as soon as I got back on the phone, my boys were back in the bathroom. Trying to remain professional, I had to allow the boys to play in the toilet until I could finish taking the order and get off the phone! As soon as I hung up, the boys immediately went into a time out while I cleaned up their mess. I can laugh now, but i sure was not laughing this morning!!!

Santa Claus vs. The Easter Bunny
I was surprised when we went to go see the Easter Bunny yesterday and my boys were not afraid. They went right up the him and gave the big bunny a hug and a high five. We even got a picture! So why is it that during Christmas, they were terrified of Santa Claus?
Our egg hunt was just as interesting. Both boys had to eat all the candy in each egg before moving on to get another egg. Luckily, I only put 2 m&m's in each egg. Otherwise, I'm sure we would have had two little tummy aches last night.
I hope you all had a great Easter!

Am I causing permanent damage?
My son Ryan is terrified of the vacuum cleaner. Whenever I take out the vacuum (which I must admit is NOT that often), he's up on the couch with a face of terror. I try to smile and tell him it's okay. I even try to get him to go closer to the vacuum when it's not on. But still, he's very frightened by it. I can't help but wonder if my vacuuming is causing permanent damage to my sweet little boy! Do I wait to vacuum when he's not around? Or, do I continue to try and teach him to not be afraid of it? These nagging feelings remind me of one of my favorite quotes (which I'm sure many of you moms can relate to).... "The only thing stronger than mother love is mother guilt"

Pacifier Clips
We just added the cutest pacifier clips to our e-store! Please check out our new selection of pacifier clips and let us know what you think!
While we're on the subject of pacifiers, I'd like to share my tip for weaning your child off the pacifier when he or she is ready:
Both of my boys were obsessed with their "na-na's." If the pacifier was'nt in their mouths, they were sure to be holding one in their hands. The worst part is, is that they would lose their pacifiers at night. And, me being the sucker mommy that I am, I would get up every night to get them a new pacifier. Some nights, I would get up 2-3 times! In January, I decided it was time to get rid of the pacifiers. Not only was I tired of getting up every night, but I was afraid of what the doctor would say if we went in for their 2 year check-up and they still had their pacifiers. Long story short, we decided to quit cold turkey. At the suggestion of a friend, we had our ceremonial binky burial at teddy crafters (similar to build-a- bear). We took the boys in, let them pick out a bear to stuff and gave them a couple last sucks. When we went to stuff our teddy bears, we had the boys' put their pacifiers inside the bears before they were sown up. After that, whenever they would ask for their pacifiers, we would give them the teddy bears instead. It was definately tough the first couple of days, but I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised at how much easier it was than I had initally thought. And now, the boys have been "sober" for 3 months!
